RECONSTRUCTION OF THE PROJECTED IMAGE (2018-2026)
Experimentation and testing the boundaries of the known and the visible are central to my artistic practice. In 2018, my strong interest in light led me to experimental photography. The project Reconstruction of the Projected Image (2018–26) encompasses an installation and a series of multimedia works, including still images and video made with a handmade camera obscura and customised apertures of different shapes and sizes. Through experimentation with the possibilities of this simple device, I investigate the everyday glitches of vision and perception. By taking photographs with a word-shaped aperture, I poetically emphasize that words, thoughts and definitions affect our perception of the visible. The experience of observing movement, rather than focusing on still images, is central to this body of work. The result is a collection of moving images that are deliberately out of focus — distorted scenes in which light and colour flow across the surface of the image. The change of apertures allows the work to alter perception by defining new fields of view, offering the observer an experience of everyday reality from an unusual perspective.
The project has led to invitations to participate in exhibitions and publications and was awarded an Artist-in-Residence programme at CSF – Adams Center for Experimental Photography, Rome, Italy.

Inspired by the Wind Rose, once found in every saltworker’s home to predict the weather. Saltworkers used the Wind Rose to indicate wind types and directions, placing a “paieta” (Erodium ciconium seed) in its centre. Sensitive to humidity, the seed turned with the wind, showing changes in moisture.

The drawing for the projection is a study for a relief from the Time-Eye series, reflecting on rotation, motion, form, matter, and light. Its geometry follows the Wind Rose, with horizontal, vertical, and X lines forming the basis for the “Iris” flower.
